Rick Harkavy was formerly the rabbi of B’nai Israel, a Reform synagogue located in the Atlanta area. As a rabbi for over twenty-five years, he has officiated at hundreds of Jewish weddings. For several years, Rabbi Harkavy was an executive director for the American Jewish Committee and later for a Holocaust Museum in the New York area. As an executive director, he was known as an effective community organizer, fundraiser and spokesperson for the Jewish community.
Rabbi Harkavy is an ordained rabbi and graduated from Hebrew Union College, a Reform seminary. He also attended the University of California at San Francisco Law School and afterwards passed the California Bar Exam.
Although Rabbi Harkavy’s parents are Jewish, he was not raised in the Jewish tradition. Indeed, most of his immediate family members are not Jewish. Consequently, working with interfaith couples has always been an important aspect of his rabbinical career. Rabbi Harkavy was an early proponent among American rabbis to offer support groups for interfaith couples. He also loves to teach and will use every opportunity to share his love of Judaism with the couple.
Rabbi Harkavy enjoys working with couples and helping them plan their weddings. He takes pride in the overwhelming positive feedback he has received from many couples.
